Yup I went Chinatown the next day, again. Haha, but this time it was with my host family which included Grandma Polly (Ona's mum) and Karen (Ona's sister).
CNY celebration at Chinatown is called the Narcissus Festival. It's really a weird name ...narcissist? ok i found out that narcissus is the name of a flower but it still sounds funny.

We started off at the cultural plaza where they got their stuffs. It's interesting how the Chinese culture and beliefs permeates into the lives of the ang mohs. Like for example, Karen was saying that she had to get a rat keychain to place next to her ox key chain so that there'll be peace and harmony in the new year. Interesting.
Anyways belows are the shots taken at the cultural plaza.

-ahem.-

And then we headed to the streets of chinatown. The streets were closed, and they had a parade going on as part of the narcissus festival.

-that's the queen of the narcissus festival-

-look carefully, these guys had mickey mouse ears!-

Sandy and Ona had a dinner appointment with another friend at the windward side of O'ahu, and the original plan was for me to stay on at Chinatown with another friend, Soon Huey, so that we could enjoy the night time performances and stuffs they were supposed to have. Sadly though, Soon Huey became uncontactable the whole day cos she had lost her phone.
In any case, I think it was pretty fated coz i was finally able to meet my mentor, Andy for dinner! It was real nice meeting a singaporean after being here for about a month! So we had dinner at Ala Moana shopping centre's food court and chatted and stuff.
And Yvonne and Jac happened to have dinner at the same food court as well. Small world ey!
