camping... well almost...

Yoshie and Shandy organized a camping trip off at Mokuleia Beach, one of the beaches along the North Shore of Oahu.

We first met at Yoshie's house... or rather she picked us up from our houses/dorms and brought us to her house. Thanks!

o_O

Angela and Cassie, outside her house. Angela's my classmate in two courses, and she's from Washington. Cassie belong's to Darren, Yoshie's bf.

Ah that's Ricky and Corina. Ricky's from HK and Corina's from Columbia but she has been living somewhere on mainland for a very long time. Can't remember from where. haha

And off we went to shop for food and stuffs at Safeway!

The Coldstone outlet at Kapahulu Avenue gives students from UH 20% off! How could i not resist! I tried a new flavour (for once).. this was 'Birthday __ ' but i still preferred cheesecake fantasy. heh

And so we arrived at the beach...shots of the Waianae range.. one of the two mountain ranges that form the spine of Oahu.

gosh the waves were amazing...

beach volleyball! but the wind was so strong we didnt really manage to play properly but who cares right

and so it was time to set up the tent before the sun set.

ym! if u're reading this... doesn't ricky look like adrian? i keep calling him adrian.

that's Darren in the center of the picture.

how many people does it take to set up a tent?

but it was cool! our 'Vacation Home'!!! Could fit 10 people... courtesy of Brett.

voila!

Stephanie and I. She's doing marine biology at UH

smile!

Yoshie, Amanda (from Columbia), yours truly, Corina (Amanda's sister), Adrian (from the Philliphines)

the girls... on the extreme right is Shandy and she's from NZ.

And so we were having tons of fun at the beach, goofing around, telling ghost stories, and our scandalous encounters...when...

we got busted by the cops.

we aren't allowed to camp at state parks. yes, we know that but it has been pretty safe for many groups before us... guess we were really unlucky. We didn't even get to sleep in our vacation home!

The cops then cited us for

1) possession of a tent
2) setting up fire in a state park
3) possession of alcohol (oh yes they are pretty serious about the no alcohol law at the beaches. People in Waikiki for example have to pour beer into cups or risk getting caught by the police.)
4) having a dog on the beach (yeah here you can't bring dogs to the beaches).

Well, Ricky and Shandy took the rap, but of course we'll split the burden of the fine among us. They've gotta go to court on 15th May and that's like finals week.

Anyhow, the cops weren't nice about it. Ha, a group further down the beach had a girl screaming at the cops.

And best of all, the cops confiscated the tent! They claimed that it was to serve as evidence in the court. How weird cos they had taken a few photos so I wonder what they actually needed the actual tent for. And we felt bad cos the tent wasn't ours to begin with!

And so we headed back to Yoshie's (and the rest of her housemates') place and arrived there about 12.30 am. Just hung around and chilled.

Shandy painting Darren's nail with nailpolish... haha he fell asleep and we werelooking for other forms of entertainment.

For all its worth..i really had a great time at the beach! Oh well..hopefully we'll get to do this sometime before i got back cos the exams are coming and all.
